Representatives Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan — no strangers to controversy and provocative speech — have inflamed tensions yet again with their declaration that the Republican Party is a “terrorist organization.” Yes, they called the Grand Old Party a terrorist organization.
How dare they say such a horrible thing!
It’s not like Republicans are the party of hate, division, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, racism, authoritarianism, environmental destruction, and anti-intellectualism! Oh, wait. Yes, they are.
They ARE the party of hate, division, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, racism, authoritarianism, environmental destruction, and anti-intellectualism.
So it makes perfect sense that Omar and Tlaib have called them a domestic terror organization — Republicans pretty much want to terrorize anyone who disagrees with their fascist ways, subjugate women and people of color, and turn this country into a theocracy.
OK, OK, so that’s not a textbook definition of “terrorism.” But judging from the comments section on the local Fox news affiliate Facebook page, the average right-winger doesn’t know how the hell to define it anyway.
World-famous political historian Sandy Batt hesitated before answering a reporter’s question about calling the Republican Party a terrorist organization.
“Let me think about this for a moment, to say it gently, but clearly and concisely,” she said, continuing, “I think I’ve figured out how to say it. HELL YES THEY’RE TERRORISTS. AND, FOR GOOD MEASURE, F*CK TRUMP.”
Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib know that labeling Republicans as terrorists will put granny panties in a bunch and knickers in a twist from sea to shining sea. They’re OK with that, though. Don’t people say they love our impeached president Trump because he speaks his mind? Hey, guess what? So do they.
Cue the tater meltdown and comments about how these elected representatives are terrorists themselves (that wouldn’t be racist or anything like that) and should “go back where they came from” in 3….2…1.
