Bernie Sanders says he would choose the freshman congresswoman from New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as his running mate for the general election. According to sources close to the campaign who may or may not be affiliated with either of them, Bernie would love to have the young socialist superstar on his ticket:
“Bernie is very excited about the prospect of AOC being on the ticket. I spoke with Joe Barron, his campaign manager, and he assured me that she will definitely get the nod if she’d be willing.
“Can you think of anything more exciting than two socialists taking control of the country? Kiss the wealthy goodbye! It’s time to take what they have and give it to those less fortunate.”
While the Democrats are starting to rally around the idea, nobody seems to be considering the fact that AOC is too young to be President if Bernie drops dead. Does that disqualify her from running for Vice-President? Nobody really knows. The Constitution only covers the age requirement for President and the Bill of Rights only covers the line of succession. To make assumptions that the two should work in tandem is the Supreme Court’s job.
AOC hasn’t responded yet to the offer, but insiders at her office who may or may not have access to how she really feels have told people close to our team of journalists that she’s strongly considering running for Mayor of New Yorn in 2021, so this may not be for her.
Either way, it’s clear that Sanders is looking for someone conservatives will find to be far too liberal to vote for, which would also include anyone to the left of Lindsey Graham. Other names being floated around are Elizabeth Warren, Joe Mnuchin, and Mitt Romney. They’re really getting desperate over there. Rumor has it that Bernie would put Hillary Clinton on the ticket, but he’s afraid she’d have him killed if they lost.
It’s a sad day in Liberal Land.
